Analysis of Caprock Tightness for CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery and Sequestration: Case Study of a Depleted Oil and Gas Reservoir in Dolomite, Poland

This study addresses the problem of geological structure tightness for purposes enhanced oil recovery with CO2 sequestration. For first time in history Polish survey advanced methods, practical assumptions, and quantitative results detailed simulations were applied to a domestic reservoir as potential candidate combined sequestration project. An analysis capacity its was performed using numerical methods that geomechanical fluid flow modelling standard two-way coupling procedure. By applying correlation between state transport properties caprock, threshold pressure variations determined be key factor affecting sealing reservoir–caprock boundary. In addition estimation structure, process leakage from caprock simulated scenarios exceeding limit The long-term resulted comprehensive assessment total amount function leaked distribution within caprock.
